G.L.Tiley & Associates Ltd Mechanical Engineering department has extensive expertise in the analysis and design of hoist mechanical components. In particular, G.L.Tiley & Associates Ltd. has been primarily involved in the refurbishing of previously installed hoists since its inception, providing engineering support and ensuring that existing components are updated to modern standards of safety and reliability. G.L.Tiley & Associates Ltd. has considerable experience with various hoist manufacturers’ designs. Additionally, G.L.Tiley & Associates Ltd. also has extensive experience in the design of new hoists, when this choice is deemed more economical.
Our work spans the entire hoisting process: from the analysis of the hoisting plant and the specification and sizing of components, inspection of existing hoists and equipment; refurbishing and design of new components and testing. We provide extensive expertise in site supervision of hoist installation and commissioning, and all our work is certified by registered Professional Engineers.
Our areas of expertise include braking systems (hydraulic and pneumatic), material handling (including loading pocket and dump systems), skip design, hoist drum mechanical analysis (including finite element analysis and simulation), and rotating machine installation. G.L.Tiley & Associates Ltd. can also provide vibration analysis and testing, stress and strain measurement of mechanical structures and rotating machinery. As technology has advanced, so have the analysis and design tools available to G.L.Tiley & Associates Ltd.'s mechanical engineers. We are also able to perform shaft guide alignment and conveyance free-fall testing using a multi-axis accelerometer, providing accurate digital measurements of motion, velocity and acceleration in all three dimensions. G.L.Tiley & Associates Ltd. is also now offering a skip motion study for rope guided conveyance systems, using laser measurement techniques.
Our mechanical engineers are instrumental in the selection, design and implementation of any hoisting application. They work closely with our electrical engineers to develop the most advanced and reliable control systems for hoist braking (including regulated redundant emergency braking), and with our structural engineers for the design of shaft structures and material handling systems.
Our mechanical department staff consist of seven mechanical engineers and three senior mechanical designers, with an average experience of over 15 years with the company, and at least 25 years of work experience each.
